Spear Reloaded review.

As promised - here is my preview of Spear Reloaded:

Coding-wise the game was superb - there were so much little details added to the game that made it feel really different from all of the rest mods out there (Pop-up icons, splatters, mine-cart and disappearing walls just to meantion few)... I really liked the possibility to switch of some of the features (like shading) during game.

Also it seem that most of the graphics were totally new... Megabyte did great job creating really atmospheric themes for all the levels. Mines really felt quite authentic, sewers were dark and cramped and the dungeons were really depressing... All in all graphics were exellent and really fit the games atmosphere...

Mapping were good aswell... Though  towards the end the levels become more and more predictable... At first the maps felt really easy to pass without losing much health (in other words lots easier than Wolfenstein Reloaded) but towards the end this illusion shattered and especially the boss fights made you pray that you didn't use those medkits or foods before you met the boss (Is this just me or were the bosses immune to such weapons like MP40 and Luger?). Well, putting that aside maps were mostly good and like the graphics, maps aswell felt really authentic... I mean you could actually imagine such place to exists that the map represented...

I am not going to review the musics and sounds though as they were mostly the same as the original...

To sum this up. This is a mod that every single Wolfenstein fan should try out... Not just for the coding features or awesome graphics and maps but for the atmosphere as well. Every level seems to give you something new and once you start playing - you just can't stop until you reach the end (or run out of lives)...

Oh, and then something funny I noticed while playing... When I was confronting Wilhelm - I used the same tactic as in the original SoD aka. hiding behind objects... Well, there I was standing behind two columns and then *bleep* . . . B.J.s dead . . . "%@;!? Hey, he can't do that!!! Those rockets are supposed to explode when they hit the columns."
